The Fisker EMotion takes the idea of all-electric luxury sedans to the next level with its long list of tech and goodies on board and the ever-exciting performance figures.

Henrik Fisker and his company Fisker Inc. are two names looked upon by performance car enthusiasts and their tree-hugging mates with equal interest. Fisker, who had kick-started the trend of the super-premium plug-in, range-extended electric luxury sports sedan with the Karma, has once again hit the headlines after announcing its plans to officially take the veils off its upcoming EMotion sedan.

It was almost a year ago that Henrik Fisker announced his intention to start a new electric car company under the Fisker name, whose first product being an electric sedan that would outshine the Tesla Model S in its range. More than a year’s hard work on the project has finally been made worthwhile as Fisker disclosed his plans to show to the world, the EMotion electric sedan on August 17.

Fisker EMotion would pack the best of tech and goodies from manufacturer. Made from aluminum and carbon-fiber, the car offers an enormous range of 400+ miles on a single charge and a top speed of 161 mph. What deserves applause here is the new graphene battery technology, that has the added advantage of reducing the charging time considerably along with extending the range and life of the cells. This tech has also provided the makers with additional weight reduction and packaging benefits.

It’s also claimed that the car can get a 100 miles of range with 9 minutes of charging using the manufacturer’s UltraCharger technology. That’s probably going to be one of the biggest selling points for the EMotion.

Well, to be more accurate, the Fisker EMotion costs $129,900 a piece. And is it just us, or does the EMotion look like a flashier version of the Tesla Model 3?

On the design front, EMotion features a smaller grille than its prototype, some purely bizarre turn signal lamps, pronounced and very “Fiskerish” front fenders, carbon aero elements at the front, sides and at the back, thin taillights and highly futuristic headlamps. The car  boasts of a new, patented “frontal crash structure”, which is claimed to enhance occupant safety.

You get a LiDAR system at the front to provide the data needed to keep the self-driving function running.  The side mirrors conceal two cameras that provide the driver with a 360-degree, panoramic view.

Fisker has used its own patent-pending battery pack and cooling system for the EMotion too.

With the car nearing its debut date, Fisker has released more teasers of the EMotion and announced that it would start accepting pre-orders from June 30 through the official website. Prices will start at $129,900. That’s more expensive than the the Tesla Model S. To put things in perspective, the top-of-the-line variant of the Tesla flagship Model S with all the options boxes checked will set you back by $131,000.

Fisker Inc plans to sell the EMotion directly through its website and experience centers. Servicing will be carried out by The Hybrid Shop.

We still can’t help but compare the car’s design with that of Tesla Model 3. Not many can turn a blind eye to that aspect.
