#4- 2016 KIA Soul EV
Price: $31,950
Range:93 miles
Battery Size:27 kWh
Power: 109 HP and 210 lb-ft
It used to be that the KIA Soul was only available in California (with 44 percent of all EV sales coming from the sunshine state, this made sense) but for 2016 you can now pick one up in Georgia, Oregon, Washington, Texas and Hawaii. With 90 miles of range, only the mighty Tesla Model S and Nissan Leaf beats this Urban Passenger Vehicle (yes, that’s what KIA actually calls it.) Driving characteristics are surprisingly responsive for such a heavy little vehicle. Thanks to a hefty 600-pound battery pack, this little EV comes in at 3,340 pounds.
The exterior is quite attractive as far as small cars come. Except for the special wheels and front grill charging port, you’d be hard-pressed to spot the difference between the KIA Soul EV and a regular gas powered one. Designed in California for a younger demographic, it certainly fits the criteria for something hip and alternative for the millennial generation. Inside, its modern and spacious with plenty of space for all of your passengers. And with 18.8 cubic feet of cargo space, there’s plenty of room for all your belongings. 93 miles of range means you probably won’t see one far from a city but it if you plan your route just right, you can take this EV on a couple of trips if you so wish.
