One of the richest men on the planet has perhaps the biggest car collection in the world. And now, images of the Sultan of Brunei’s enormous car collection have popped up online.

Thanks to Instagram user Taffy CS, never-before-seen images of the enigmatic car collection that belongs to the Sultan of Brunei is now online car enthusiasts to feast on. Though there aren’t enough pictures that cover His Excellency’s rumored collection of 5,000 cars, GTBoard has put together most of them into a lean and mean 3-minute YouTube video and it’s basically as good as ice cream for car lovers.

We have heard our share of stories related to the Sultan of Brunei and his affluent lifestyle which will put dozens of super-rich sheikhs in the Middle East to shame. Here is the guy who is the real-world version of Scrooge McDuck when it comes to the love for gold and shiny stuff.

But unlike the miser that’s Scrooge, Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah splurges his wealth like there’s no tomorrow and also keeps his subjects happy by offering excellent services in health, welfare, education and community. His net worth was $20 billion in 2008 and as of today he is the wealthiest monarch in the world. Thanks to the oil-rich kingdom that he rules.

Let’s focus on the cars, shall we? The Sultan’s car collection is perhaps the largest one to be owned by a private collector. The numbers are rumored to be in the range of 5,000+ now and we are talking about some of the rarest, priciest and most exotic machinery here. Carmakers line up to build one-off supercars and hypercars for the man and they still do.

The Sultan of Brunei is a Bond fan for sure. Proof is right here, in the form of a silver Aston Martin DB5.

The recently-released images showcase all the big hitters in the supercar and luxury car spectrum. McLaren, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Porsche, Bentley, Bugatti, Jaguar, Mercedes Benz; you name it and this garage has it. The Sultan seems to have a love for yellow as many of the cars in the image are in that color.

In a comment that Taffy posted for the GTBoard video, he mentions about how these images came into existence.

"My friend was miraculously given the permission to take pictures of the huge garages during his stay in Brunei. Unfortunately the time was limited and he did not know where to start knowing that the collection was more than 3000 cars in the main garage alone. He skipped many sections of the garage unfortunately due to the massive area and with only two rolls of camera film."

The images were shot 16 years ago and the printed photos were in an album which were then scanned and uploaded to the Instagram account.

In all its fairness, these images have to be seen at the Instagram page of Taffy CS. There are a lot more pictures which haven’t been added to the GTBoard video and you’ll get to see all of that in the Instagram page. His account also opens up a world of cars which many of us never knew existed.
