Scion to Debut iM Concept at L.A. Auto Show
By Mike Garcia
Scion’s product line has been stable the past few years. The current lineup, which includes the xA, xB, xD, FR-S, TC, and IQ, have been around for the past few years. A new model is going to be released soon, and the public will get to see it at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November. It is named the Scion iM.
"Like any new star about to step out on the world stage in Los Angeles, Scion’s new iM Concept car is taking some test shots. The photos, also debuting on Instagram, reveal the distinctively sporty front end of the car as it gets ready for the spotlight. The iM Concept car reflects the evolution of Scion as the needs and desires of its youthful customers also evolve. Fans are encouraged to join the conversation at #iMDriven.Scion’s Los Angeles Auto Show press conference will be held Wednesday, November 19, at 3:40 p.m. in the South Hall.[via Scion. 2014. What kind of car will it be? Will it be a sedan? Will it be a premium version of the Scion TC? The somewhat blunted front end with low-profile tires and large wheels give a hint. It’s possible there’s a sporty hatchback on the horizon, hopefully with rear-wheel drive. While the TC is the entry-level hatchback and the FR-S is the rear-wheel drive version, the iM could be a differently priced, sporty alternative to the xB. The latest Honda Fit model checks a lot of marks across the board. It has great value, practicality, delivers solid performance, while providing great gas mileage.
The xB is usually seen as a purely practical vehicle. The TC offers some performance advantages. Something in-between could provide the Scion lineup a bit of spark for what the younger generation wants; simplicity with some sporty feel.
If it’s going to be built and priced reasonably, there’s plenty of reason for it to succeed.
