Honda’s 10th Gen Civic Bringing Turbo Power and Type R Return
By Paulo Acoba
Honda really pulled out the big guns when it revealed its latest concept at the New York Auto Show and gave the next generation Civic a much-needed injection of sportiness (Honda fans will get that reference.) Not only did Honda announce that they’re bringing in turbos for their four-cylinders, they’re also bringing back the Type R that the American market raved about when it was officially revealed across the pond just a few weeks ago in Geneva.
Honda of North America
According to the Executive Vice President of Honda Motors in North America,
“The new Civic will be, flat out, the most dynamic, the most technologically advanced and the most refined and stylish Civic we’ve ever made. In every way, this will be an epic Civic.”
This all new generation Honda Civic encompasses the whole range, from the Civic Sedan, Coupe and Hatchback. The concept unveiled in New York is the wildest concept that Honda has ever unveiled for the Civic and bodes well for the entire lineup from the Civic Sedan, Coupe and Hatchback. First, the overall proportions are all around more sporty. The entire car is stanced low and slung like a jet ready for takeoff. The wheel arches bulge out surrounding the massive wheel to body ratio. Sure, the regular trim models will be toned down, but not by much.
That sportiness seeps into the Earth Dream lineup of engines which starts off with a 1.5 Liter turbo variant that will find its way throughout the entire lineup.
The whole range will be made in North America. From the development team based out of California to the engine being assembled in Ohio, it’s all very close to its home market.
And that Type R is no April Fool’s joke either. It’s coming to America and will be the halo car for all Civic owners to look up to.
Honda Civic is back and will be the best Civic made ever since the famed 90’s Golden era 6th generation Civic.
