Nissan Celebrates “May The 4th Be With You” Day
By Paulo Acoba
It’s that time of year again. That day before Cinco de Mayo when the whole world seemingly celebrates Star Wars. It’s called “May The 4th Be With You” day and it happens to land on May4 every year.
This year it looks like Nissan got in on the fun with some very appropriate May 4th tweets that showcases some of their cars.
First we have a couple of 350Z’s that slowly transform into the C-3PO and R2D2. Nissan says that, “there are the Z’s you are looking for.”
Then we have a Nissan Rogue also styled after R2D2 except it’s wheels have been replaced with snow terrain capable tracks.
Then we have Nissan’s GTR transformed into C-3PO except its license plate now says GT-3PO.
Finally,we have a real treat of a concept car with Nissan’s Pivo 2. This concept was unveiled at the 2005 Tokyo Motor Show and received rave reviews from auto-journalists. It’s an all-electric urban vehicle capable of rotating 360 degrees thanks to its special spherical wheels.
There is a Pivo 3 in the works that may see production soon.
Anyway’s, Nissan sketched the Pivo 2 to look like a rolling droid from the new Star Wars VII film to be released this December.
It’s always fun when car companies take the time to celebrate these odd-ball holidays with the rest of us. Call it brand awareness and connecting with customers, but it looks like the marketing department is just having a good time.
