Subaru WRX STI Driver Plows Into Washington State Trooper’s Vehicle
By Paulo Acoba
A Subaru WRX STI drove straight into a Washington State Trooper’s vehicle yesterday night. According to Q13 Fox News earlier last night (May 30, 2015), a Subaru WRX STI driver suspected of driving under the influence was driving along and rammed into a Washington State Trooper’s vehicle that had been stopped on the side of the road on Interstate 90. Fortunately, the police officer escaped unscathed and was able to exit the vehicle via the passenger side door.
The Washington State Trooper was transported to a nearby hospital where he was treated for his injuries. Fortunately, only minor injuries to his neck and arms were sustained. As of this time, the identity of the officer isn’t being released pending further investigation.
As for the Subaru WRX STI driver? Currently, there is no information on how he fared but he was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. Witnesses at the scene describe the Subaru as driving “very fast.” It also looks like the DUI driver won’t be getting his vehicle back anytime soon. Shortly after colliding with the State Trooper’s vehicle, his own vehicle burst into flames due to the nature of the impact. Although the fire to his engine compartment was quickly put out, the damage to his Subaru was extensive to say the least.
According to Trooper Chris Web’s post on twitter, the Subaru WRX Sti is all but scrap metal at this point with very few parts salvageable. In his earlier twitter post above, it’s pretty clear that the engine met a fiery end. Trooper Web warned other drivers of the dangers of driving under the influence.
With all the public service announcements running constantly at night reminding drivers of the dangers of driving drunk, it’s hard to believe that some people still take their cars out after a night of serious drinking. Always have a plan when you go out for the night and designate a driver to take you and friends home if you do decide to drink.
