How do you make a 740 HP super-car even better? You take its top off.

After waiting with bated breath for a couple of months now, Lamborghini has finally brought out its fastest bull sans top. Earlier today (Aug. 14, 2015) Lamborghini pulled out the red carpet to unveil its 2016 Lamborghini Aventador SV Roadster to much acclaim from those at the quail and the larger internet community. If you’re hankering to get in line for one, you’d better call your local Lamborghini representative real quick as their will only be 500 examples made. MSRP for one of these beauties starts out at $530,075 which should be chump change if you’re even considering buying one.

"”The Superveloce is the purest, most sports-oriented and fastest series production Lamborghini ever. The Roadster version represents our commitment to satisfying our passionate clients with immensely emotional driving dynamics combined with an extraordinary open air experience,” Stephan Winkelmann, President and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini said during the press conference at The Quail."

The heart and soul of this Italian bull is Lamborghini’s legendary V12 good for 750 HP and 509lb-ft that now revs all the way to 8500 RPM. 0-60 MPH will take less than three seconds and if you put your foot in it long enough you should be able to hit 217 MPH without breaking a sweat. All that power is routed through a 7-speed ISR transmission with all that torque going to all four wheels.

Gone are the days where if you added a convertible to your lineup, weight would increase by a ton and performance would suffer immensely (we’re looking at you IROC Z.) All in all, the two roof panels only weigh 13 pounds thanks to being made from a light weight carbon fiber composite and add 110 pounds to the overall weight of the vehicle due to the structural enhancements that must be made for safety. And according to Lamborghini, performance is maintained when compared to the non-roadster version. That’s car speak for the performance difference between roadster and non-roadster model is negligible.
