Daigo Saito’s Lamborghini Murcielago Drift Car Is D1GP Ready
By Paulo Acoba
Less than 24 hours after Daigo Saito did a quick rundown drift the Mercy is ready for D1GP
We’re not going to pretend that we know anything about Japanese D1GP but when images of Daigo Saito’s Lamborghini Murcielago Drift car in finished form hit the web, how could we NOT get excited about Round 5 of D1GP. Daigo himself announced via social media earlier yesterday (Sept. 3, 2015) that both his Toyota Chaser and his Lamborghini Murcielago are ready for drifting. In true boss status, the Murcielago was already outfitted with Sunoco Japan’s team livery. Mind you, this was all less than 24 hours after Daigo treated the entire internet to his finished Murcielago straight ripping it in the parking lot. Check out some of the pictures hitting social media below. Suffice to say, everyone is super excited to see this scissor door Samurai ready for tandems!
Currently, Daigo Saito is sitting 6th in overall points. Since he missed Round 4 in Tsukuba, he has a lot of other drivers to catch up to if he wants to stay on top. Round 5 is tomorrow and Sunday and has been aptly dubbed, “The Battle In Maishima, Osaka.” Supposedly D1GP hasn’t run here in two years so this round should be extra exciting. Since he brought both his Chaser and Murcielago, we assume Daigo will only use the Mercy for a couple of exhibition runs to get everything settled in. For competition, we can look to his JZX100 Chaser to do the heavy damage in the tandems. Fingers are crossed that a live stream of Round 5. will pop up like they did in previous rounds.
A couple months ago videographer Luke Huxham was in Japan and filmed a POV touge drift session with Daigo in his JZX100 drift missle. Check that awesome footage out below.
