#2. 2016 Mercedes-Benz E250 Bluetec

Price- $52,260

MPG – 28 City/42 MPG Highway

Power- 195HP and 369 lb-ft of torque

Mercedes takes a slightly different approach to their diesel offering for the 2016 Mercedes-Benz E250 Bluetec and hits us with a 2.1- liter inline four cylinder turbo. Thanks to the diesel power though, you’d be hard pressed to feel the difference between the four cylinder and the 3.0- liter V6 it replaced. You’ll be glad to know that this exact engine may very well be stuffed into the upcoming C250 BlueTec for 2016, but that one hasn’t come out yet. As far as big luxury sedans go, you may be reluctant to put down that much money down for a four-cylinder, but the E-class’s natural prominence, luxurious interior, and comfortable ride may just win you over.

Handling wise, the E-Class sedan in general is composed and more on the comfort side as opposed to the performance market. You do have your choice of comfort or sport oriented suspension. Overall handling is solid.

Inside is where the battle is won. Plush, refined and with copious amounts of wood and chrome trim, it’s a nice place for both passengers and driver. With seating for five and 15.9 cubic feet of trunk space, there’s plenty of room for your friends and their belongings.

Fun Fact: With a 21.1-gallon fuel tank, there’s an EPA estimated range of more than 800 miles.
