#20- 1978 Ford F-150

Appeared in: Back to the Future III

The 1978 Ford F-150 appears shortly after Marty McFly returns back from the wild west and finds Jennifer sleeping on her front porch. Marty and Jennifer then head off in Marty’s 1985 Toyota Truck and the exit towards Hillsdale. At the next intersection, none other than Needles pulls up next to Marty in a farm truck red 1978 Ford F-150 complete with a roll bar out back, KC headlights up top and a lift kit with matching mud tires all around. Needles and his mates try to coax McFly into a streetrace but Marty has already learned his lesson and knows to keep his temper in check. The Ford F-150 jumps off the line and Marty hits reverse while both Jennifer and Marty watch Needles narrowly avoid hitting a Rolls Royce thus fixing the past and helping Marty not get fired in the future.

Although the 1978 Ford F-150 was offered with a 351 or 400 cubic inch V-8, we imagine that Needles had the bigger engine. The 400 had a factory rated 160 HP but more importantly 276 lb-ft of torque at 2000 RPM. Marty’s pickup probably had Toyota’s four-cylinder so in an honest drag race, we’d put our money on the Ford.
