#5-1946 Ford Super Deluxe Coupe
Appeared in: Back to the Future I and II
The 1946 Ford Super Delux Coupe was of course owned and driven extensively by one Biff Tannen in the BTTF I and II. We get to see this 1946 Ford Super Deluxe Coupe chasing Marty McFly on his makeshift skateboard before he slams into a nearby parked manure truck. Almost the same exact circumstance happens to Biff Tannen again in BTTF II and cemented the nickname of this car as the poop coupe ever since.
Fun Fact: Universal never actually used poop but pieces of burlap sack to look like poop so there was no smell.
It’s only recently come to light that this Ford Super Delux started its life as a fixed roof car before Universal Studios went ahead and chopped the roof off to make it look like a convertible. Like a few of the cars that made it out of the studio lot alive, this car has been faithfully restored and is fully driveable today.
The AFICIONAUTO from Youtube recently did a short documentary piece on the Biff Tannen’s 1946 Ford Super DeLuxe and put up the video for everyone to enjoy. Check out that video below.
"Dan and his father Rick never thought that starting a car collecting hobby would ever lead them to one of the most recognizable cars in cinema history. When the Volo Auto Museum had Biff’s Ford Coupe for sale the duo couldn’t pass it up. So now one of the coolest cars to ever be filmed is in the caring hands of a family that couldn’t be more deserving."
