#21- 1994 Ferrari F355 GTS

James, is it really necessary to drive quite so fast.

Appeared in: GoldenEye

Who can resist the revs of an Italian V8 engine at the hands of one femme fatale Xenia Onatop. While James Bond is careening down the hillsides of the French Riviera in his Aston Martin DB5 towards Monte Carlo and simultaneously being interrogated by MI6’s personal psychologist, Bond enters a playful game of cat and mouse with Bond girl and henchwoman Xenia Onatopp in her stolen 1994 Ferrari F355 GTS.

We’re led to believe that Bond’s 282 HP DB5 with 30-year suspension could keep up with the 355’s 380 HP but maybe Q outfitted this Bond car with special aftermarket suspension and modified engine underneath the hood (but probably not likely.) In the end, it’s the requests from the MI6 Psych evaluator that gets Bond to stop, showing his deference to female authority.

During the filming of the chase scene in the mountains, the 355 and Aston where both involved in a very expensive crash. The story goes that Ferrari agreed not to bill the production company and crew as long as they let the Ferrari win the race, which is supposedly why Bond loses in the end.

And this isn’t the last time we catch a glimpse of a F355 as a couple are used in “Die Another Day” quite unceremoniously as one is dropped from the cargo bay of a plane, landing in a farmers field.
