#18- 1981 Alfa Romeo GTV 6 2.5
Appeared in: Octopussy
If there was one car marquee that could rival Aston Martin, Lotus, and BMW for top honors, it has to be this 1981 Alfa Romeo GTV 6 2.5. The GTV6 Quadrifoglio was the highest spec GTV6 model, and as such, was plenty fast and highly sought after. The Quadrifoglio Alfa Romeo pumped out a generous 230 HP and 245 lb-ft of torque from its twin-turbocharged V6 and could hit 60 MPH in less than 6.5 seconds.
Shortly after Bond handles the two knife throwers Mischka and Grischka taking revenge for 009 and jumping off the circus train, Bond does his best to huff it over to the circus show at the Air Force Base and needs to get there ASAP. He runs into a lady in a payphone with this hot hatch idling, and instead of waiting to ask her to borrow it, time is of the essence and Bond steals it right from under her nose.
The police give hot pursuit in their BMW bikes and sedans but are no match for Bond’s mighty twin-turbo V6 and MI6 driving skills. Bond deftly powerslides the Alfa through corners and makes his way to the Airforce Base.
Fun Fact: The same designer who handled the smooth yet choppy design language of the GTV6, Giorgetto Giugiaro, also had his hands in the styling of the Lotus Espirit used in The Spy Who Loved Me.
