#9-2006 Aston Martin DBS V12
Bond’s been poisoned and he’s going into cardiac arrest.
Appeared in: Casino Royale
Although there were no fancy gadgets on this particular Aston Martin DBS V12, it had plenty of power, a spare handgun and a portable defibrillator in the glove compartment that proved to be invaluable when Bond gets poisoned later in the film. And even though there are no chase scenes per-se, the one and only scene that this Aston Martin DBS is most famously used in happened to set a world record while they were filming.
When Vesper is kidnapped by Le Chiffre’s henchman, Bond runs to his DBS and gives chase. Seeing Vesper lying on the road, Bond tries his best to avoid her but ends up flipping his precious DBS. Although no driver would ever want their Aston Martin to roll, this was exactly what the film crew wanted to happen, which proved to be very difficult. When ramps wouldn’t work for the stunt team, an air piston punching the ground mounted in the rear of the Aston proved most effective. Three Aston Martin’s were used and wrecked in filming the flip scene with the DBS flipping seven and a half times, setting a new world record for total times a car rolled.
Fun Fact: At the time of filming, Aston Martin still hadn’t released the DBS so Aston retrofitted a couple of DB9’s to look like DBS’s instead.
