Top 40 James Bond Vehicles Of All Time
By Paulo Acoba
#35- 1982 Yamaha XJ650L Turbo Seca
Appeared in: Never Say Never Again
This is one of those scenes where the car (err..bike.) is just as cool as Bond. While Fatima Blush jetted off in her 1983 Renault Turbo2 (which with 200 HP and a six second 0-60 time, was a fantastic car in its own right) Bond cracks open the wrapping off Q’s gift and onto a 1982 Yamaha XJ650L which he promptly wheelies out of the house.
Surprisingly both vehicles are turbocharged and while we much prefer the hiss and bang of the Renault, the gritty XJ650L Turbo Seca doesn’t sound too bad either. Divebombing under trucks long before the people at Universal Studios made it a thing with their Fast and Furious series, Bond skids underneath a truck and pops up on the other side, no sweat. After a bit of gymkhana down several stairs, he catches up with the Renault but dead ends in a tunnel where henchman try to corner him into a truck which proves unsuccessful.
Bond then employs his afterburners which propels him away from the henchman and over a bridge. Blush pulls a sucker punch move and uses a swinging piece of wood to ultimately end the chase with the Yamaha falling to its side.
