SEMA 2015: James McDonnell’s Blacked Out BMW i8 At Accuair Suspension
By Paulo Acoba
If you head over to the Accuair Booth at SEMA, you’ll most likely run into this little beauty sitting front and center.
The aftermarket scene evolves faster than you can blink. One moment you think you’ve got a trend cornered down and the next instant it’s completely changed. According to Accuair Suspension on their Instagram post earlier yesterday (Nov. 2, 2015) along with their other cars featured in their booth, James McDonnell’s totally revamped 2015 BMW i8 makes its way onto their floorspace. Check out some of the social media hitting the web featuring this unique build.

We chose to highlight James McDonnell’s own personal build because we think sports hybrids and electric cars will be one of the hottest trends for 2016 and will be a focal point for SEMA 2015. Additionally, lowering a car’s ride height isn’t going anywhere anytime soon and Accuair seems to be the choice for those serious about their ride height.
The BMW i8 platform is still relatively new and represents a somewhat socially responsible approach to motoring. BMW’s iDivision has been working hard to set itself apart from its M division and so far they’be been pretty successful. With just 357 HP and the ability to hit 60 MPH in 3.6 seconds thanks to copious amounts of torque off the line, this car represents the future in motoring when internal combustion from fossil fuels is pushed to the wayside. We can easily imagine the turbocharged four-cylinder being stripped for solely electric motoring thanks to bigger batteries.
James McDonnell’s BMW i8 hails from South Florida, and as far as we can tell has been recently wrapped in a one-of-a-kind matte black paint wrap. Lower the altitude and you raise the attitude and with accuair suspension on all four corners, that’s certainly the case. Wheel choice is pretty much on point with a set of Rotiform CBU’s custom made in rose gold. According to Accuair, it’s the lowest BMW i8 in the world.

We can’t wait to see how much further this car evolves which should be reason enough to give him a follow on Instagram to see his next step.
