5 reasons why the Subaru BRZ STI will be made
By Paulo Acoba
#5- Subaru pretty much promised us an STI version of one or more of their cars
Back in April Subaru unveiled an STI Performance Concept at the New York International Auto Show and stated that
"The STI Performance Concept signifies a plan for U.S.-expansion of Subaru Tecnica International (STI), the performance division of Subaru, in its three core business areas; aftermarket parts, STI-tuned cars and motorsports. In the future, further models tuned by STI will be available in the US. These cars could feature more extensive modifications from the factory than previously offered, such as suspension, performance, braking, chassis and aerodynamic upgrades."
We’ve taken the words straight out of their mouth. More STI-tuned cars with performance modifications. Currently, the only model that has STI badging in the United States is the Subaru WRX STI.
Subaru knows there’s a strong market for tuner cars in the United States and a rebounded economy has put disposable income back into the pockets of people who are looking for something more fun to stuff in their garage. At an MSRP of $35K, the Subaru WRX STI might be out of range for some, but a BRZ STI will certainly be more affordable.
Next: Japan already has a Subaru BRZ STI...kindof.
