5 reasons why the Subaru BRZ STI will be made

#4- Japan already has a Subaru BRZ Sti…kindof.
If we go back to the press release where they announced the STI performance concept they stated that ,”The Japanese domestic market uses the nomenclature “S model” as its naming for the WRX STI and uses “tS” on BRZ and Forester vehicles that have STI components, but a naming convention for any future US models has not yet been established.”
Back in 2013 Subaru did unveil a TS model BRZ only for Japan. 500 units were made and the car came with Brembo discs all around, special edition 18-inch aluminium wheels, a front under spoiler designed by STI and a GT package with Recaro seats, a dry carbon rear spoiler and BBS wheels.
What the car lacked was a hotter engine. If they did include a hotter boxer under the hood worthy of the STI name, they would’ve added an S to the end.
But there you have it. Subaru’s STI division had its hands in developing a better handling BRZ although they were not quite ready to throw some power its way.
