SuperPhoto Painting Filter: You Either Love It Or Hate It
By Paulo Acoba
A new filter-trend using the SuperPhoto app is taking over Instagram and car enthusiasts are absolutely divided over its creation.
If you’ve spent enough time on Instagram during this holiday season you’ve probably come across this super popular filter that’s cropped up over the past couple of days. According to people who’ve been using the app on their smartphones, it’s called SuperPhoto and it has some people either loving these one-off photo creations or absolutely livid over the results. Check out just a couple of these photos below and let us know what you think about this latest trend in the comments below.

According to SuperPhoto’s official description, the filter is called “Painting” and it turns your otherwise ordinary photos into a faux-painted portraits. Although there are over 1500 effects and filters on the app, it looks like this particular filter is getting all the attention (probably because it’s included in the free version.) A cursory scroll through Instagram will reveal what looks like nine out of 10 of the photos using the SuperPhoto App are car enthusiasts.
Some people think it’s overall cool but other people absolutely hate this newest trend. Pro-photographer Joey Lee was particularly vehement on his call to action to cease using this newest trend filter.
"Merry Christmas, can we stop using that stupid ass app to make your cars look like Chinese oil paintings screenshotted and blurred 48 times. Thanks."
And this parody image from a Simpsons episode used when a new trend hits the Internet was made shortly after.

We think the filter looks ok, and although it’s a bit kitschy, it combines two otherwise separate interests, Art and Cars.
