A forward thinking Tesla Owner added his own unofficial feature to a Tesla Supercharger station that enhances safety and owner convenience.

While free Tesla supercharging stations are state of the art and avante-garde, owners miss out on all the conveniences and niceties of a modern gas station. According to one Tesla owner off of/r/tesla’s subreddit earlier Wednesday,  one owner observed this innovative new feature added to a Centralia, Washinton charger. Someone quite literally added his own window washer in the form of a bucket of soapy water and squeegee. Check out that picture below and revel in the ingenuity.

While this “feature” is a bit low-tech and anti-climatic, it does shed some  light on the Tesla owner experience. Like regular cars, their windshields get mucked up with dirt and bugs too. With unmanned supercharger stations, there’s no one manning them on a regular basis to provide a clean squeegee, cleaner fluid and fresh paper towels. And if you need to use the bathroom, you’re pretty much out of luck.

One redditor responded to this new feature by saying,

"I’ve been asking Tesla employees this every chance I got for a long time. There’s nothing I would rather do while supercharging than making my Tesla shinier. And shinier Teslas on the road is better for the brand."

In response to the lack of amenities at several stations, some owners have banded together and listed a handy guide for each station and what to expect while you wait for your Tesla to charge.  The tips for Centralia, Washington where this “Squeegee in a bucket” can be found listed,

"…Easy to find, you can see it from the freeway when headed south. There are several fast food places within walking distance (McDonalds, Arby’s and Taco Bell being less than a block) and a couple of diner-style restaurants."

As far as electric supercharging and your refill experience is involved, sometimes the grass isn’t greener on the other side. Then again, not paying for the electricity is kind of nice too.
