The Mini Cooper has always been a car that’s made passerby’s break necks and say under their breath, “Damn….”
Priced at $35,600, it’s a steal for how much performance and style you get. For that extra $15,000 over a base Mini Cooper you get a much hotter turbocharged engine, a wildly styled exterior aided by stripes that would make any boy racer proud and just enough exhaust note to get a thumbs up from fellow car enthusiasts.
Powering the 2016 Mini Cooper John Cooper Works hardtop hot hatch is a 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder engine that makes a generous 231 HP and 236 lb-ft. The sprint to 60 MPH takes just 6.1 seconds with an automatic and 5.9 seconds in the manual. If you put your foot down long enough, you can hit 153 MPH without breaking a sweat.
Mini takes their iconic Mini styling and adds a much more muscular and athletic stance. Up front there’s a larger bumper opening to feed the intercooler. Around all four-corners are pronounced fender flares that house 17-inch alloy wheels. And all-around the Mini Cooper are JCW badges that have us saying, “Back at it again with the JCW Stussy on the daily.”
