#39- Nissan GT-R Crashes At The Nurburgring Killing One.
Crashes happen at the Nurburgring all the time but none cause so much damage as to impose strict speed limits on certain areas of the track shortly after. During the VLN Endurance race at the Nurburgring earlier last March in 2015, the No. 23 Nissan GT-R driven by Jann Mardenborough entered a section of the track called the Flugplatz. His Nissan GT-R literally caught air, went airborn,e and landed in a spectator area killing one spectator.
Although there was proper fences around the area ensuring that spectators don’t enter into off-limit areas for fear of these types of accidents from happening, the spectators simply jumped over the fence and ignored the risks.
Since then, in total there have been several modifications to the Nurburgring to ensure something like this never happens again. Mostly there are new fences, improvements to the track to make sure no cars are getting air borne and more space exists between spectators and drivers.
The video itself is pretty self-explanatory with the car’s aerodynamic flat floor catching air and the entire car lifting off the ground. You’ll be glad to know that at least Jann physically was ok and continues to drive today.
