#24- Carl Edwards Flip at Talladega Aarons 499
No one hates to lose the lead on the last lap, but the way Carl Edwards was pushed out of first place by Brad Keslowski will forever cement a rivalry between the two drivers that will stand the test of time. On the very last lap of the Aarons 499 race in Talladega, Brad Keselowski pushed Carl Edwards out of first place causing Edwards to go sideways and into a fence destroying his chance at a podium and a win.
Racing started to get good around Lap 125 when Carl Edwards claimed the lead as leaders pitted. Then on Lap 187, Edwards passed Ryan Newman for the lead to take the white flag. Coming into the back stretch of the final corner, Edwards attempted to block Keselowski but Keselowski made contact with Edwards’ left rear quarter panel. Edwards spun backward and took off into the air.
Ryan Newman then slammed into Brad Keselowski, further launching him into the fence. Eight fans were injured by the debris and one fan suffered a broken jaw.
The mayhem hit a conclusion that no one saw coming when Edwards ran out of his car and jogged to the finish line to a cheering crowd a la Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby.
