#5- 2010 DTM Adria: Alexandre Premat’s Crash
German Touring Car Championship or DTM for short is known for having some of the best racing in the world. With a mixture of young F1 hopefuls and veteran drivers proving they’ve still got it, action is always present with plenty of overtaking, rubbing and aggressive driving. That also means there are plenty of accidents as well.
Alexandre Premat’s crash during the 2010 season at the penultimate race is a prime example of this. Alex Premat was driving his Audi A4 for Team Pheonix when he crashed into another Audi Driver- Maro Engel on the first lap that resulted in his Audi crashing straight into a barrier.
The Frenchman’s Audi A4 rammed into the wall opposite the pit area at the end of the first lap and the car began to spin uncontrollably shortly after. The crumpled up Audi came to rest against the wall with Premat ejecting himself from the cockpit shortly after. Premat simply walked away from the crash with nothing to show for it injury-wise except no car and a bruised ego.
It goes without saying but DTM safety regulations are as strict as can be. With a rulebook that keeps safety as the number one priority, it’s not too surprising to see him unharmed.
