The 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon will walk the Earth soon. But Hennessey is ready to take on the dark forces with the perfect weapon – a 1000 hp Camaro ZL1, aptly named THE EXORCIST.

The never-ending buzz online suggest that the upcoming 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon will be powered by a 750+ hp engine. The drag racing-focused monster is one of the highly-anticipated launches of the year and is not exactly giving the rest of the muscle car makers pleasant dreams. But Hennessey has prepared the perfect weapon to send the SRT Demon back to hell when the lights turn green. They are calling it THE EXORCIST Camaro ZL1.

So, how much of godly firepower does THE EXORCIST Camaro ZL1 command? A lot. A hell lot more than the Dodge Challenger SRT Demon. 1000 hp of power and 996 lb-ft of torque are more than adequate to exorcise the SRT Demon on any given stretch of road. That’s a massive boost from the 650 hp-650 lb-ft belted out by the regular version of the 2017 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 on which THE EXORCIST is based.

Bestowing Hennessey’s “preacher” with Demon-exorcising capabilities is its extensive range of modifications. Ported factory cylinder heads, upgraded camshaft, long-tube stainless steel headers, high-flow air induction, and custom engine management calibration team up with a higher flowing supercharger & intercooler system to deliver the unbelievable numbers. All that’s going to cost you $55k and another $62k for the donor car. That translates to a total of $117k for THE EXORCIST Camaro ZL1’s base model package. Not bad for a road-going missile which can blaze past 60mph in less than 3 seconds and cover a quarter mile in 10 seconds, or maybe less.

The Dodge Challenger SRT Demon will need a lot more than 750-800 hp to put up a stand against the 1000 hp THE EXORCIST Camaro ZL1.

The Exorcist package is available for the both the 6-speed manual and 10-speed automatic versions of the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1. But owners of the latter will have to shell out an additional $9,950 in order to upgrade to a superior automatic gearbox capable of harnessing the new team of horses under the hood.

Hennessey will be offering two optional packs as well on top of this.

The Drag Pack (which suits SRT Demon-hunters), comes with 20-inch wheels shod with 315/30R20 Nitto drag radial tires, upgraded driveshaft, floor jack, and tool kit. That’s going to cost you $8,995. The Road Race Pack comes packed with 20-inch light-weight Hennessey wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires. That’s going to set you back by $6,995.

Hennessey has plans to make just 100 units of THE EXORCIST Camaro ZL1 per year.

The first blood has been drawn by Hennessey with their announcement which stole the Demon’s thunder right before the latter’s NY Auto Show debut. Now it’s Dodge SRT’s turn to retaliate and it’ll need a power figure close to that of THE EXORCIST or a less-threatening price tag to hold the line.
