  1. The Brian References

The franchise has been respectful of preserving Paul Walker’s legacy and doesn’t opt for any unnecessary or tasteless attempts to include the retired Brian in their attempt to solve the crisis they are in. Walker’s Brian is mentioned only once and that’s when Roman says, “Brian would know what to do,” to which Letty replies that all of them had agreed not to drag their retired friend back into their world of guns and bullets.

It’s a brief scene. Yet the sheer emotional impact of it is something which will resonate well with fans who have been following the franchise for 16 years. For that short moment, we are reminded of Paul’s demise and it does leave a lump in your throat. The concluding scene of The Fate of the Furious in which Dom names his son Brian does have its charm. But it still doesn’t match the emotional depth of reference that Letty and Roman make in the first half of The Fate of the Furious.
