  1. Everything Set in Cuba

Cuba wasn’t featured in Hollywood movies for a long period of time. Now that the embargo has been lifted, we’ll be seeing more of the island nation in upcoming movies. The Fate of the Furious kicks starts things and it did it in a tasteful fashion worthy of mention and appreciation. The car culture, the people, the sights and sounds of the Cuba; everything has been seamlessly blended into the opening of the movie.

It was also good to see the movie revisiting its street racing roots by hosting a high-octane race with old-fashioned Cuban hot rods. And that discreet mention of how Cuban car enthusiasts kept their cars running despite unavailability of parts is both heartwarming and refreshing. F. Gary Gray and Chris Morgan deserve a pat on the back for the thought put into showing us Cuba as we have never seen it before.
