  1. Helen Mirren and Luke Evans Cameos

The production crew did a neat job of concealing Helen Mirren’s role from sniffing movie journos. But it couldn’t keep movie buffs from making the calculated guess that she’ll be playing mom to Owen and Deckard Shaw. And that’s exactly who she is. She is another major player in the world of shady organizations that’s filling up the Fast & Furious universe. The Oscar-winning actress plays her role with elan and the crocodile tears scene which she shares with Statham is the icing on the cake.

The last we saw of Owen Shaw was in Furious 7 when Statham’s Deckard Shaw paid his brother a visit at the hospital. The former was shown recovering from the injuries sustained during the events in Fast & Furious 6. We never got to see him later in that movie. But in The Fate of the Furious, we learn that Charlize Theron’s Cipher had corrupted Owen Shaw and was the one who sent him to secure the Nightshade device chip. Seeing him join forces with big brother Deckard to take over Cipher’s jet is the equivalent of poetic justice served piping hot.
