  1. The Submarine Chase

Because it’s a RUSSIAN NUCLEAR SUBMARINE CHASING CARS ACROSS ICE. When have we ever seen that before? The scale of vehicular mayhem and action is extensive with the crew trying every trick in the book to stay alive as the ice beneath them makes way to a massive nuclear sub.

And who could miss out Roman clinging on to dear life and his sunken orange Lambo’s door as Tej pulls him to safety with that devastatingly-awesome Ripsaw tank? Then there’s the Rock changing the course of a torpedo with nothing but his bare hands to blow up an entire convoy in a ball of fire. This chase sequence may not have topped the car skydiving sequence from Furious 7. But it sure is one for the ages.

We also loved how the lengthy, ambitious and extraordinarily-executed set piece concludes with “the family” power-sliding all their cars to form a ring around Dom to shield him from the exploding submarine.
