  1. New York Sequence (Excluding the Zombie Cars)

Admit it, the whole “zombie car” sequence in The Fate of the Furious isn’t the best example of Hollywood CGI. The aforementioned cars look hideous while in action and the vehicle dynamics are too much hive-like to be digested. Look closely and you’ll find not-so-advanced cars without auto-pilot modes among the infected ones. So unless Charlize Theron’s Cipher is a T-X class Terminator, it’s hard to swallow the pill of her controlling all those cars, even in the world of Fast & Furious where fast cars and expert street racers can save the world.

Having said that, the practical effects involved were stupendous and how the Russian Defense Minister’s convoy deals with the zombie cars is also appealing to watch. But the class act is when Dom takes on his team, starting with a chase across New York which end with that tire-shredding, 5-versus-1, 5-way tug of war with Dom’s GTX impaled with grappling hooks from all sides. Letty, Roman, Hobbs, Deckard and Tej literally burn rubber before Dom decides to show them why he is the Alpha in the group. The tug of war sees all the cars ending up in heaps of twisted heaps of metal, plastic, carbon-fiber and rubber.
