Fan Theory #1: The Ring Record

The Porsche 918 Spyder was once in possession of the Nürburgring lap record. A blistering lap time of 6:57.00 set with the sheer brilliance of the technology on board and of course the pure might of that 887 hp hybrid powerplant. The Lamborghini Huracan Performante tore that record down with a less powerful 640 hp engine. Posting 6:52.01, the Performante’s run essentially left the Porsche 918 Spyder in the dust.

Perhaps Porsche is trying to reclaim that title. The car which has returned to the Ring has the same Martini livery as the one which clinched the record in the past. It could even be the very same car. And the new video shows the hypercar being pushed to the limit. It almost hints at a practice run before going flat-out again to take back the crown from Lambo.
