Spider-Man: Homecoming Premiere Attended By The Upcoming Audi A8
The Hollywood premiere of the upcoming Spider-Man: Homecoming was attended by the stars as well as the upcoming Audi A8 sedan. Our attention was equally divided among the guests.
Spider-Man: Homecoming’s Hollywood premiere took place the other day and walking the red carpet was everyone from the movie’s lead actor Tom Holland who plays Peter Parker/Spider-Man to Robert Downey Jr. who reprises his role from the MCU as Tony Startk/Iron Man. Marisa Tomei was also around, just in case some of you wanted to know. And then there was the upcoming Audi A8.
Audi has had a strong product placement relationship with Marvel Studios and it has been there since first Iron Man and has now continued on to the latest Spider-Man movie. Well, Peter isn’t rich enough to own a premium luxury sedan like the A8. But since the movie has Tony Stark in it, there will always be an Audi close by. Stark likes his car German and with four rings. (Not ten. He despises “Ten Rings”.)
Anyway, back to the premiere. Since the A8 is still days away from its big reveal in Barcelona on July 11 and as Audi still wanted the car to be present at the premiere, the carmaker wrapped it up in a Spider-Man-themed camouflage. The A8 was then given the job of chauffeuring Tom Holland to the TCL Chinese Theatre red carpet. Co-stars Robert Downey Jr. and Jon Favreau arrived together in… yep, an Audi R8.

The Audi A8 can be seen in action in the upcoming movie and Audi has succeeded in tucking in their Audi AI Traffic Jam Pilot feature into the one of the scenes. When Happy Hogan is driving the car with Peter Parker as passenger, the former takes his hands off the wheel for a while and the Audi A8 continues to navigate through the traffic autonomously without crashing.
Let me be a bit blunt here. While it makes a lot of sense for studios and producers to have the financial might of a major automotive giant at their disposal, product placement sequences which are too obvious will actually mar the overall movie experience.

All that we can do now is to hope that the director has shot it in such a way that the scene doesn’t look like an Audi A8 ad starring Tom Holland and Jon Favreau.
Spider-Man: Homecoming will swing into theaters on July 7, 2017.
