After Michelle Rodriguez’s Instagram update and Fast 8 director F. Gary Gray’s response to it, Vin Diesel has uploaded a video with the actress, pledging his support for her.

Apparently, Michelle Rodriguez isn’t happy about how the female leads and characters in the Fast and Furious franchise are not given as much significance as their male counterparts. So she took to Instagram and sort of threatened to leave the series unless things change. Fast 8 director, F. Gary Gray responded to that by defending The Fate of the Furious as an example of why it wasn’t always the case. Now the leading man and the producer of the booming franchise – Vin Diesel – has responded to the topic.

Vin Diesel’s Dom and Michelle Rodriguez’s Letty have been Mr. and Mrs. Alpha of the franchise during its 17-year long drive. And with the latest rumor of the actress planning to leave the franchise stating the reason of women being sidelined in the series, Diesel got into damage control mode immediately.

The actor has posted a video on Instagram and sharing screen space with him is Rodriguez herself. The latter says in the clip,

"Vin, you’ve always been the biggest supporter of strong women. And I’ve always appreciated that about you, throughout the years. Just know if I ever post anything, it’s not you I’m talking to."

Diesel has supported the video with the following text.

"Proud of Our saga… but we must try to reach higher each time. The challenge is what makes it fun and exciting. Its also why this saga has reached the level that it has… you have been the best fans in film history and we are forever grateful…Dom and Letty."

Now that Vin Diesel has pledged his support, will Rodriguez stay back in Fast and Furious?

Perhaps, Rodriguez was referring to the studio and the remaining producers as far as the ones who she was “talking to” part is concerned. Or if it was Diesel, then both of them may have reached an amiable solution which will eventually give the female characters in Fast and Furious, much more room to leave their mark on the franchise.

As for Vin Diesel, the lines that he has added to the Instagram video may actually contain the hidden message.  In all likelihood, he’ll be making the moves from his influential position as lead actor and producer, to bring forth the changes that’ll push the ladies of Fast and Furious to the limelight.
