With Transformers: The Last Knight bombing at the US box office and also failing to capture Chinese audiences, it was one poor note for Bay to make his exit from the franchise. As many reports indicate, the director hasn’t got plans to come back. Though I have always enjoyed the good things about his movies, most Transformers flicks were the perfect examples of Bay taking his audience for granted.

Travis Knight could be the breath of fresh air and the Energon shot in the arm that the series needs. With the Bumblebee spinoff’s premise and cast offering so much promise and actually getting to build on the “boy and his car” idea (though “girl and her car” here) that Spielberg had for the first movie, I’ve got high hopes for this one.

Bumblebee spinoff is scheduled to release on December 21, 2018. Production has commenced and almost the entire filming will take place in California.
