Deliveries will be delayed as General Motors has halted production of the Chevrolet Corvette at their plant in Bowling Green, Kentucky.

Starting August, GM will be putting the production of the Chevrolet Corvette on hold for three straight months. No cars will roll out of their Bowling Green plant in Kentucky during the aforementioned time period and this in turn will delay deliveries.

The halt in production is brought forth because of the construction work for the new state-of-the-art paint shop. The 450,000 square feet area is receiving an exhaustive update this time. There are also rumors about the halt in production being done to gear up the production facility for the mid-engined Vette which is undergoing testing now.

Meanwhile, the 2018 model year Corvette has reached dealerships around the US. The model has got a couple of minor updates and freshening up. Plus, a special edition version called the Carbon 65 is also around to celebrate the 65th anniversary of the iconic sports car.

The bad news is that once the dealers run out of stocks, which they will, there won’t be any shipments from the factory to replenish the cleared ones. Dealers and customers will have to wait until December 2017 for things to get back to normal. Placing orders is also not an option, at least for the next couple of months.

The dealer network has around 14,700 units of the Chevrolet Corvette cars in their lots. That’s the number featured in the Cars Direct report on the news, quoting the figure from Automotive News Data Center as of July 1. But most of those cars fall in the 2017 model year. Which means, getting the 2018 Vette isn’t going to be that easy for buyers until the end of 2017.
