Mercedes-AMG G65 Final Edition Is A $252,000 Send-off To The G-Class
The G-Wagen is on its way out and the Mercedes-AMG G65 Final Edition is a really expensive way to wish the Gelandewagen goodbye.
Mercedes-AMG loves the current-generation G65 a lot and with the G-Wagen about to make its exit from the scene, the sub-brand has come up with a special edition to bid farewell. They call it the Mercedes-AMG G65 Final Edition. And the kind of money that you’ve to part with to own one of the 65 examples to be made available for worldwide sale, is astronomically high.
Priced at €310,233 in Germany, the G65 Final Edition will be sold in the US at $252,690. The Drive has got that part confirmed from the folks at Mercedes-Benz USA. Bookings will start soon and of course, you really got to rush, as Mercedes-AMG has allotted 30 units for sale in the US.
What do you get for writing a quarter-million dollar check? To begin with, there is a huge 6.0-liter V12 engine from AMG that growls and claws with 630 hp of power and 738 lb-ft of torque. This Gelandewagen in its G65 Final Edition guise is not one to be poked with a stick. Capable of clocking 0-62 mph in 5.3 seconds, some of the sports car owners in the neighborhood will think twice before challenging you at the red light. Top speed is limited to 143 mph. So, don’t get carried away while racing the aforementioned chaps.
The next-gen G-Class is expected to arrive in 2018. Mercedes-AMG must’ve already started drawing up sinister plans for the successor.

Visually, the Mercedes-AMG G65 Final Edition stands out from the regular G65 because of the matte bronze highlights garnishing its gloss black body. Front grille surrounds, 10-inch wheels, underride guard, mirrors and the spare tire cover at the rear have got the matte bronze elements. Tail pipes and running boards come in matte black. High gloss black protective strips, AMG Sport trim strips on the sides and silver brake calipers complete the exterior look.

Inside, Designo black nappa leather takes over and so does a judicious amount of carbon-fiber. The seats have been given a carbon-fiber-esque texture which look fabulous. Contrast stitching in brown, more matte bronze accents and special badges wrap up the show in the living room. Floor mats have leather edges in brown. So, you got to be a bit careful when stepping into this with dirt on your shoes. Not that many of its owners will be taking the Mercedes-AMG G65 Final Edition off-road.
