Number 9: BMW 4 Series

In the number nine spot for the most expensive vehicles to insure sits the BMW 4 Series. The 4 Series is a midsize luxury sedan (BMW also sells a convertible and coupe). The model is often praised for its strong engine lineup and its luxurious interiors. That said, you’ll pay the price for those qualities, and not just when you buy the car.

The BMW 4 Series comes with either a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine under the hood that makes an impressive 248 hp or a turbocharged inline six-cylinder engine that forces out 320 hp. Car and Driver noted that the model isn’t as sporty as some consumers would like it to be.

The publication said that BMW decided to pursue sales by adding in more consumer-focused features and amenities and dialing back on the idea of the Ultimate Driving Machine that had been the brand’s North Star for years. All we know is that it’s still pretty pricey and you’re going to pay a pretty penny to get car insurance for this luxurious midsize sedan. • Annual Average Insurance Paid: $1,306.51
