Number 3: Mitsubishi Lancer

There isn’t a Mitsubishi Lancer for the 2018 model year, but there are still plenty of 2017 models for sale as brand new cars. The model may have a dirt cheap price tag, but when you take into account its annual insurance costs, that price tag suddenly looks a whole heck of a lot less attractive.

The Lancer isn’t much of a performance car either. It has a base 2.0-liter four-cylinder that manages 148 hp. The upgrade is a 2.4-liter four-cylinder that makes a slightly more impressive 168 hp. You can get all-wheel drive, which adds a bit of spice to the Mitsubishi’s flavor.

The Mitsubishi Lancer used to be a much sportier model. Mitsubishi had the Lancer Evolution and that car was much more powerful and capable. The current Lancer is far different from that car, but it’s car insurance costs would suggest otherwise.
