Number 5: Mazda MX-5 Miata (NA)

The Mazda MX-5 Miata NA actually debuted in 1989, but it’s such a 90s car. The vehicle is as 90s as any other vehicle on this list. The NA in the name doesn’t mean naturally aspirated as you might have guessed. NA is just the designation for the first-generation car.

The first gen MX-5 Miata brought back fun, relatively low-powered motoring at an affordable price. The first MX-5s came with a 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine that made 113 hp and 100 lb-ft of torque. As time went on power and engine size increased incrementally, but the car kept its fun, slow-car ethos.

The thing that makes the MX-5 so great other than the fact that it’s excellent to drive is the fact that it has a healthy modding culture behind it. There are all kinds of performance upgrades you can get for these things, and people soup them up and race them all the time.
