Beauty met beauty when Aston Martin and the Red Bull Racing division travelled all the way to the coast of Cape Town, South Africa. A car show for the people and an ad worthy of 10 million playbacks.

It was sunshine and burnouts when Aston Martin Red Bull Racing entertained Capetonians with their Formula One car and veteran F1 driver, David Coulthard. Gathering crowds on the parades in front of the famous City Hall, all while one of nature’s seven wonders of the world provided a priceless backdrop.

It makes one wonder why the F1 doesn’t make their way over to the Cape after such a filled out event. Cars, planes, motorcycles, smoke and the smell of gasoline burning away are just some of the things that make the human being excited to be alive.

The day was perfect for all who witnessed it and took part. Aston Martin’s depiction of the city of Cape Town couldn’t be more on the button and to the C, to the P, to the T, to the CPT! However, where they took it away and broke the internet was the Red Bull Racing advert they dropped several days back.

A touch of class by Aston Martin and Red Bull Racing

Word for word, David encaptured the soul of Cape Town and its residents. The video masterfully captured the diverse and multicultural land Cape Town is and will always be. Second to none, it remains one of the sweetest destinations the world has come to know.

One has to say… Watching these two videos got me feeling extremely proud to be a South African and Capetonian. Who wouldn’t be after such a classic event? Besides the Formula One team strutting their stuff, the Cape’s very own custom builds came for their short shot at fame.

Doughnuts, doughnuts, and more doughnuts! If it wasn’t the little engine spiralling down from 1000s of feet in the air, it was the BMW e30’s blowing tires on the tarmac. The perfect day for a person who loves to get behind the wheel, even if the shop is on the corner of the road.

Red Bull still winning at TV commercials

If you haven’t been in a city bowl taxi in the heart of Cape Town, this advert will make no sense to you. When you think taxis in the CPT, you think sliding-door operators, five rands, two rands, one rand. As well as, no regard for road laws, lack of original parts, and trips down roads not on Google maps.

The ad features the British expert driver, now presenter, Coulthard, a few well-known actors, homegrown talent and rapper, Youngsta CPT and what South African’s know her as, The Mother City, Cape Town. The 2:46 YouTube clip has one of SA’s trademark taxis going up against the Aston Martin of the Red Bull Racing team.

Exactly how the public commuter travels through the streets of the city (or off it), is exactly what you could expect from the expert taxi drivers in Cape Town. Just a lot more dangerous and while on route to work or school.

Certainly one of the reasons some Capetonians aren’t into extreme sports, cause life is a bit extreme on the roads. Most importantly though, after this top tv ad, Red Bull Racing has undoubtedly gained some more supporters from the southernmost point in Africa on the shores of Cape Town.
