The GTA Online Los Santos Summer Special hit PCs and gaming consoles across the world last week, bringing with it an influx of new vehicles for the game.

The summer 2020 update added fifteen new vehicles to the mix. Among them are variations on old favorites, as well as some entirely new designs.

Grand Theft Auto Online, now in its seventh year, has long offered lots of goodies for gearheads. Whether you enjoy luxury sedans or rock-crawling trucks, the game features lots of eye candy in the form of vehicle models based on real-world cars.

At Art of Gears we enjoy spotting the references to actual automobiles contained in GTA Online.

Of the new additions, one that immediately stood out was the Invetero Coquette D10, which is clearly Rockstar’s version of the 2020 Corvette C8. It’s a mid-engine hypercar from Coquette, the same marque known for GTA’s previous Corvette lookalikes.

The new Albany Manana Custom is a variation on the game’s long-running Albany Manana, which is some amalgamation of late-60s-to-early-70s Cadillacs and Buicks. This one features a massive blower atop the V8 engine sticking through its hood.

The Benefactor Glendale Custom, shown in the promotional photos with red paint and whitewall tires, is another update of an existing GTA car. This one is quite obviously a nod to vintage Mercedes Benz designs like the W114 and 300D.

The Imponte Beater Dukes takes its design cues from the golden era of American muscle cars, with a grille clearly reminiscent of a Dodge Charger and a chin spoiler that’s a nod to the late-60s Chevy Camaro.

Our favorite addition is the BF Club, a vintage compact hatchback taking clear design cues from the Volkswagen Golf Mk1. It’s a hot hatch that’s high on style points but might not be the most practical option for traversing the dangerous streets of Los Santos.
