Mecum is preparing their docket for their upcoming Glendale, Arizona auction and the cars available are quite impressive. Running from March 18-20, at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, the auction is expected to have 1,200 vehicles and will feature a wide variety of collector cars, motorcycles, and tractors.

The diverse auction docket features vehicles for all collector car enthusiasts and includes:

A 1952 Ferrari 340 America, chassis No. 0202A, that finished fifth at 1952 24 Hours of Le Mans. In the 1950’s this Ferrari was exported to the United States and purchased by Paul Owens of Texas. The original engine was swapped out for a Chevy V8 and after an accident the original bodywork was replaced with a Devin Spider fiberglass body. The car was titled in 1963 and then disappeared until 1990, when it was purchased for $200.00. In 2006 the Ferrari was bought on eBay for $26,192 and its true provenance was discovered. Research determined and verified that chassis No. 0202A was one-of-24 340 America’s built. It has since been restored with racing livery, new Vignale coachwork and is powered by a 4.1-liter V12 engine.

Holman-Moody was the official racing contractor for Ford Motor Company and built many iconic vehicles for the Dearborn, Michigan titan. Mecum is offering a 1967 Ford Mustang Holman-Moody Racer that is one of two that were produced. This Mustang’s racing history is largely from Peru and Argentina and it was re-engineered in 1971 to Trans Am specifications. It’s powered by a Ford Racing 302ci V8 engine that is paired with a Toploader 4-speed manual transmission. The vehicle was restored by Cameron Bishop.

A rare 1970 Mazda Cosmo is being offered by Mecum. The Cosmo is the first production vehicle with a twin-rotor engine and in many ways helped keep Mazda alive while it developed a foothold in the market. This is a right-hand drive vehicle has an unrestored interior and was re-painted approximately 20-years ago.

These are a few examples of the collector cars being offered at the Mecum Auction in Glendale. Mecum is coming off their most successful auction, the January 2021 auction in Florida surpassed $141 million un auction sales. With Barrett-Jackson holding their Scottsdale auction the week afterwards, it’s a great time to be a collector car aficionado in the Valley of the Sun.
