Jochen Rindt (1969-1970)

He is the only driver to win the F1 Drivers’ Championship posthumously. Rindt lost his life after an accident at Monza during practice on September 5, 1970 with four-races left on the schedule. He had won five of ten races that season and his lead was too substantial for Jacky Ickx to catch.

Rindt drove for Team Lotus for two-seasons and won six of the 19-races he entered.
