3. 1965 Shelby Cobra 427 roadster
At the Mecum Florida auction in February this Cobra from Carroll Shelby’s personal collection was sold for $5,940,000. It is one-of-five 427 Cobras finished in charcoal gray and was purchased from the Shelby estate in 2016.
A proper ground-up restoration in 2019 is highlighted by the car’s original body and chassis. Yearning for more power, Shelby upgraded the engine with a 427ci aluminum-head side-oiler power plant and an installed an automatic transmission.
