A 2010 McLaren-Mercedes MP4-25 Formula One car driven by Lewis Hamilton is being offered for sale by RM Sotheby’s. Hamilton drove this MP4-25 to victory at the 2010 Turkish Grand Prix.  Early estimates by the auction house have the Mercedes-powered McLaren going for $5,000,000 – $7,000,000.

This chassis is the first Hamilton race-winning F1 car offered for sale. It is McLaren certified, features a Mercedes-Benz FO 108X 2.4 litre V8 engine and will be offered in Sotheby’s July auction in London.

Hamilton can make a strong claim to being the greatest F1 driver in history with 98 race wins (F1 record), 100 pole positions (F1 record), 169 podium finishes (F1 record) and he is tied with Michael Schumacher with the most F1 Drivers’ Championship with seven.

The opportunity to own a race-used Formula One car  with the engine that has Hamilton’s pedigree is rare.

Here are some great examples of race-used F1 cars that were recently sold at auction.
