My Favorite 1990s Cars
By David Castro
1993 Ford Probe GT
Originally developed to replace the aging Fox-Body Mustang but due to a backlash, based on the Probe’s front-wheel drive layout, it became its own car and the Mustang evolved.
Ultimately the Probe is a Mazda MX-6 and is underwhelming with its 164hp 2.5-liter V6 engine that propelled it from 0-60 mph in 8.7-seconds. I wasn’t overly concerned with performance back then, I was shallow and dug the Probe’s futuristic style.
