2012: Caterham F1’s First Season

For their first season as “Caterham F1” they chose Heikki Kovalainen and Vitaly Petrov to pilot the CT01. The CT01 was effectively the next incarnation of the Team Lotus T128 that was used the previous season. It was powered by a Renault RS27-2012 with KERS and they continued to use a Red Bull Technologies seven-speed automatic transmission.

The results were abysmal for Caterham F1 in 2012, as they did not garner a single point and Petrov had a team best finish of 11th at Brazil. Caterham F1 finished 10th in the Constructors’ Championship.
