Amazon Prime is both a blessing and a curse.

A blessing because you can get a wide variety of stuff to watch and there is some legit original programming, plus a lot of cool old flicks and interesting documentaries. The curse is that binge watching can lead to less productivity for DPC and a general feeling of extreme loafing.

Amazon’s original programming is legit, I am not saying anything new and I think this a pretty common take, especially their automotive and motorsports programming.

“The Grand Tour” is their biggest and most popular automotive production. Signing Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May for an original show was a coup for Amazon and lets be honest a big mistake and/or loss for BBC.

Yes, Clarkson assaulted a coworker and I frown on that but I figure you would suspend an employee that makes your company a lot of money. After I typed that sentence I realize that I will never have a career in human resources and that is a good thing.

Since Clarkson, Hammond and May’s departure in 2015 “Top Gear” has had a revolving door of hosts and the program is no longer the same. I’ve tried to watch the current show but I just can’t get into it. Clarkson, Hammond and May were the gold standard and everything since is meh.

Beyond “The Grand Tour” Amazon has produced some strong automotive and motor sports programming. Without further ado, here is my take on the best original gearhead programming on Amazon Prime in descending order:
