II. “Fernando”

The five-part series follows Fernando Alonso’s career from 2018-2020 when he raced in F1, WEC, Dakar and the Indy 500. Alonso is an engaging dude and very honest. His abilities as a driver in various disciplines is portrayed accurately, his failures and triumphs are both equally on display.

I am an Alonso fan because of his ability to try different racing series and driving disciplines. This notion of attempting different motorsports is rare now (I gotta give Jimmie Johnson props for going from NASCAR to IndyCar.)

The series is well done and it helped me work on my Spanish. A bit of each episodes is subtitled, usually when Alonso is speaking with family or close friends in his native Spanish. I took six semesters of Spanish in college but I have retained almost none of it. For me the show is engrossing, I binged watched it, and it helps my linguistics. Win, win.
